Renting a Dumpster Vs. Hauling Yourself

You may be asking yourself why do I need to pay for a dumpster? Why cant I just haul the waste myself? Before you plan on hauling debris on your own, you should consider these factors.

1.) Is my truck or trailer large enough to handle everything I need to dispose of? Never underestimate how much weight you may have in your load. If your truck is not large enough to fit everything in one trip, then keep in mind you will be taking multiple trips to the landfill.

2.) How far are you from the nearest disposal facility? If you have a ways to travel this could interfere with your job’s time constraints. Time traveling back and forth could be time spent on more productive projects. Material that could fit it one large dumpster may require you to take 4 to 5 trips to the landfill.

3.) What are your local regulations for hauling waste? Be sure to check for any restrictions and laws that could interfere with what you plan on hauling.

4.) How much will you really be saving if anything at all? How valuable is your time? These are two things you should really consider before taking on the task of hauling waste yourself.
